Hey there! I’m Anna. I’m a Christian, a wife and a newbie homeschool mom of three.

I’ve decided to start this blog because I want to provide a helpful and relatable place for busy moms to learn how to manage and grow their family’s finances, while still prioritizing their home life.

In other words, I want to help you with budgeting, making money from home, saving for big future events (weddings, kids’ college, etc.), and building wealth over the long haul to create a lasting legacy.

I know what it’s like to feel stuck and confused when it comes to finances. Maybe you and your husband want to make a job change, move to a bigger house, or have more kids, but you have absolutely no idea how to make that happen with your current financial situation.

Maybe it’s because there’s no margin in your life, and money is already squeezed as tight as can be.

Or maybe you simply feel clueless. You have no idea where the money goes each month or how to control and save the money that you do have.

Whatever it is, you are not alone. In fact, it’s more normal than not to feel overwhelmed by your financial situation.

Very few of us are equipped in school or growing up at home with real, practical knowledge about personal finance that helps in the real world—or as some like to say, with “adulting”.

This is why understanding your money is the first step to thriving financially. You have to commit to learning something new if you want a different financial future.

Don’t worry, money’s actually not that complicated. It just takes intentionality. And you know what else I’ve found? Once you have a game plan, managing your money can actually be fun and exciting.

My Story: Why we needed a financial overhaul

I can remember back to the early days in our marriage when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing when it came to our money. As the naturally more organized spouse, most of the financial side of things eventually fell to me. I was happy to do it—but I had no idea what I was doing.

Honestly, we had a pretty good financial start to our marriage—no major debts, two decent incomes, and we started building equity in a home that we bought right away.

But a lack of intentionality very quickly spoiled our “head start”.

  • We racked up some credit card debt with a couple bigger vacations and a few years of careless spending.
  • We took on a car payment without even thinking about it.
  • I made some big “investments” trying to get my marketing business off the ground but never saw a real ROI.

On top of all that, we never tracked a penny that we spent. We just sort of figured that as long as the money never ran out, we were okay—right?

Wrong.

Just like that, I looked up one day with a baby on my hip, we were down to one income, my business hadn’t worked out like I hoped it would, and I realized that we were stuck.

I knew that many more years like this would cement us forever into a future of financial mediocrity. We might justtt eek by, but we’d never truly thrive. And we’d certainly never be wealthy.

At this point, finances felt like a murky gray cloud hanging over my head. How could I tackle something that I didn’t even understand? It all felt too hard, too confusing, too unknown.

What scared me the most, though, was wondering what kind of future we could give our daughter and any other future children we might have.

I think that thought is was drove me—by the grace of God—to finally face our finances and really dig in and figure out what I was doing.

The Turnaround: I learned that money’s actually not that complicated

At one point I remember my husband and I talking about getting a new credit card. I was feeling uneasy about it, and not at all certain that a new credit card was going to fix anything about our financial situation.

I remember typing into Google: “do you need a credit card.” Because maybe—just maybe—the solution to our mounting debt wasn’t giving ourselves more opportunity to go into debt.

As I typed the words I didn’t know what I would find, but I was pretty sure there were people out there who lived without credit cards.

It turns out I was onto something. Dave Ramsey’s website was the first result that popped up (this was before Google had an AI response at the top of the results page), and I read through his blog post about all the reasons you don’t need a credit card after all.

This was the beginning of a major financial overhaul for our family.

Thankfully we never hit a true rock bottom moment, so we didn’t have a massive hole to dig ourselves out of. But we did need to start approaching our finances in a vastly different way (burying our heads in the sand just wasn’t cutting it).

Through the process I learned many important lessons—lots of which I’ll share with you in future blog posts. It turns out that things as simple as budgeting and living on less than you make actually are keys to thriving financially.

The greatest lesson, though, has been this: thriving financially is a choice that you can make. Anyone can do it.

The hard part is the follow through. The getting started. The tough changes. The discipline. The consistency.

There is no magic hack or quick fix. Lots of people out there will try to sell you on those things, though, because it’s easy to make a quick buck when someone is desperate.

So don’t fall for the gimmicks or the complicated investment strategies.

Also don’t fall for the lie that it’s too hard and you have to be super smart to figure it out. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Yes, even a busy mom with next to no time on her hands can do it.

It’s all up from here

Today, we’re a decade into our marriage, we have three daughters 6 and under (hellooo future wedding costs!), and we’re still figuring out a lot as we go.

But at our financial foundation, we now have clarity. Dreams no longer feel impossible. In fact, my husband and I are dreaming bigger than ever before. The path to move forward is clear. Despite whatever road bumps or twists and turns the future may bring, we’ve found our true north and will stop at nothing to get there.

I deeply desire to help as many other moms as possible achieve the same level of clarity, peace, and direction.

When your family gets to operate from a place of strength and security, there’s no limit on what you can accomplish and the life you get to create for yourselves.

If more moms refuse to check out financially and commit to giving their families everything they’ve got, I’m convinced we’ll see a huge ripple affect in the world—and in our kids’ lives. In fact, I believe that God clearly calls us in His Word to do the very best we can with what He’s given us.

That’s why I hope you’ll follow along with this blog. I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learned (and am still learning!) about:

  • Earning money from home while busy with littles running around—even if you’re homeschooling them!
  • Starting, growing and marketing an online business that creates real income your family can thrive off of
  • Managing your money wisely to create more margin in your life and less waste, so that you can build real wealth over the long haul (because a high income doesn’t necessarily equal wealth)
  • How prioritizing your financial life helps you pour better into your relationships and home life
  • Leveraging the financial freedom you create to build a family culture you love and the life you’ve dreamed about
  • And so much more!

Ultimately, becoming a Profitable Mother is all about creating options for your family. The freedom of choice is what financial freedom is truly about.

You don’t have to feel trapped in your current reality any longer.
